Day 331: August 30, 2011

Concert night.
Apparently in Oklahoma this is as close to a real concert as we can get:
Live video footage at the movie theater.
They did play their entire new album so Mike was ecstatic.

Day 330: August 29, 2011

Hard earned poker money.
Mike bought us a Kindle!
I get to use it for my electronic readings for class
but I'm sure we'll share it on trips and travels.

Day 329: August 28, 2011

P-p-p-poker face.
Out of 90 people Mike ended up in 9th place
and won a couple hundred dollars.
Not as good as first place ($3,000) but good enough for us :)

Day 328: August 27, 2011

Saturday night fun.
If you visit Oklahoma for no other reason
it must be for this.
DNR: 11% beer
brewed and sold only in the state of Oklahoma.

Day 327: August 26, 2011

OU Concert Series.
As part of OU's Howdy Week,
we saw Stardeath & White Dwarves, BUCHO, and Chrome Pony.
I only caught the last show and I must say the nephew of
Wayne Coyne is very similar in (eccentric) style.

Day 326: August 25, 2011

Herb Garden Experiment: Part II
After last winter's herb garden finally bit the dust this summer,
I decided to try growing some herbs again after all the summer traveling.
We will (hopefully) soon start having cilantro to eat.

Day 325: August 24, 2011

Sleepy time.
Sadly, this is how we sleep every night.
He's a pretty good cuddler.

Day 324: August 23, 2011

Sad panda.
Maybe the broken-hearted panda should have been a sign
not to eat at the sushi restaurant.
They had worms in their edamame.
Ew.

Day 323: August 22, 2011

First day of school blues.
As I tried to prepare to teach my class, Frankie decided
the textbook made a better napping spot instead.

Day 322: August 21, 2011

The chef.
Mike made an amazing meal of organic chicken, potatoes, and onions.
Very tasty!

Day 321: August 20, 2011

Live BULL riding.
In celebration of Katie's birthday we went to an authentic honky tonk
bar in OKC with real, LIVE bull riding.
The bull was going pretty fast so all I got was a blur,
but you get the picture.

Day 320: August 19, 2011

Boomer!
Erich had us over for crab night after his neighbor Dan brought back 20 1b. of
fresh crab from the Florida Keys.
He also bragged about his ridiculous liquor collection in
preparation for the football season.

Day 319: August 18, 2011

Souvenirs!
My friend David brought me back some
local jewelry from his trip home in China over the summer.
Mike says I need some authentic Chinese clothing
to wear them with though.

Day 318: August 17, 2011

Paperweight.
Mike's jaw nearly dropped to the floor when his Business Law book
arrived in the mail.
He was much happier to find out his class was only going to go through about 1/3
of it this semester.

Day 317: August 16, 2011

New favorite lunch.
Organic ham on wheat with hummus, lettuce, avocado, cilantro, and chips.
Yum!

Day 316: August 15, 2011

Three weeks and counting.
Mike prepares for the impending OU football season with
a new OU bandana and eye patch thingies.

Monday, August 15, 2011

Day 315: August 14, 2011

Goodbye St. Louis, we'll see you again.
Apparently St. Louis made quite an impression on Mike,
he even said he wouldn't mind living there someday.
I liked it because it reminded me of Sac.

Day 314: August 13, 2011

Oh no, football season has started.
At least it's a good reason to drink.
Especially when it's a pre-season game and a blowout for the Rams.
Wohoo Sam Bradford!

Day 313: August 12, 2011

Second presentation.
Even though I had three days notice to pull together a second poster,
I think it turned out well, all things considered.
Although I must admit there was not as much interest the second day :(

Day 312: August 11, 2011

AEJMC 2011.
Mike presented this wonderful poster on social network analysis.
Oh wait, no I did.
But he definitely made it look better by standing in front of it :)

Day 311: August 10, 2011

Fish out of water.
Even though we decided to catch a Cardinals game while in St. Louis,
Mike still represented Nor Cal by sporting his Giants t-shirt and hat.
Go Giants! . . . er, Cardinals

Day 310: August 9, 2011

Lightening storms!
The cats may have been scared but Mike and I (and Misfit) wanted to get closer to the action.

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Day 309: August 8, 2011

4th place! Woohoo!
"Don't mind my redheaded friend" may have started off slow,
ranking only 18th for the majority of trivia night,
but we ended strong in 4th place.

Day 308: August 7, 2011

King of the cat toys.
After surviving the painful ordeal of having his claw cut too short and blood gushing all over the place,
Frankie was rewarded with his choice of any toy from the secret toy box.
Poor Frankie!

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Day 307: August 6, 2011

Movie time!
Rise of the Planet of the Apes was really good!
Especially in balcony seating at the Warren :)

Day 306: August 5, 2011

¡El fin de escuela del verano!
Celebrating at OTB, my favorite bar.

Day 305: August 4, 2011

114 degrees. Kill me.

Day 304: August 3, 2011

The Painkiller.
That drink was massive. Limit 2 per guest.
Cheddar's was surprisingly not a terrible restaurant
and we got pretty good service (aka free honey butter croissants)

Day 303: August 2, 2011

303 days and still in love.
Fun time at Chili's before we see Bridesmaids and escape the heat wave!

Day 302: August 1, 2011

I might still be an overgrown kid.
Re-decorated my home office and added chalkboard contact paper so I can write on the walls,
Where the Wild Things Are decals, and hung up the lanterns I bought in Istanbul.
Not sure how productive this will make me for my dissertation though.

Day 301: July 31, 2011

Calamari, yum.
For date night we decided to use a Groupon all the way out in Edmond
(about an hour from our ouse) at a restaurant called Manhattan's.
It was pretty good.
If you're up for a drive, go to Manhattan's.

Day 300: July 30, 2011

Breakfast.
Of champions?
Corned beef hash, eggs benedict, bloody marys, and mimosas at La Baguette.
Yum.

Day 299: July 29, 2011

Flying on a jet plane.
To a massive heat wave in Oklahoma.
Ugh.

Day 298: July 28, 2011

Happening spot.
Not really. There were mostly local rednecks and hicks inside.
I'm not really sure Fargo, ND was more than I expected.

Day 297: July 27, 2011

Español en el verano.
Our bedroom has turned into a Spanish study den.

Day 296: July 26, 2011

Hello Fargo, ND.
Off on another grand adventure, destination: Fargo, ND.
"It's more than you expect"

Day 295: July 25, 2011

Birds on a wire.
Future picture project for the house and
something little I picked up from my day trip to Dallas.

Day 294: July 24, 2011

A new addition.
After coming home from Turkey and finding the garden overrun with weeds,
I pulled them out, fought some spiders, and
planted this little bush in their place.
Hopefully it won't stay very little,
it's got a lot of space to cover.

Day 293: July 23, 2011

Spiders.
Apparently we don't need to decorate for Halloween this year,
the black widows living all over our house are doing that for us,
Yuck.

Day 292: July 22, 2011

Our love fern died.
Well actually it's an orchid that we got in Paris.
I think the heat wave and the fact that we don't turn on our a.c.
was a bit much for the little one.

Day 291: July 21, 2011

Summer collage.
A little piece of everywhere we've been this summer,
And it's not done yet!

Day 290: July 20, 2011

Hopeful drinking.
So we had a bunch of mason jars filled with corks around the house
and I thought I would centralize them in one giant vase.
Apparently that was a bit hopeful on my part.
Looks like we got some drinkin' to do!

Day 289: July 19, 2011

love birds.
Even though I picked these up at an ol' lady store with my mom,
I love these little birds.
And may even shop at Coldwater Creek again.
